Interchange of the I-5/I-10/US 101/CA 60 Again, an amazingly complex interchange from above. However, we struggled to find an adequate angle from which to capture it (via photography) from within. Perhaps taking the 5 N under the 10 through to the 101 is the most interesting view; we didn’t take this route on this trip. When I was a kid I thought that the feeling I got while traveling through interchanges is the feeling electricity must have had when funneled through the intricate circuitry of a computer. Jaime and I just watched The Matrix (again) last night—perhaps my childhood vision is an expression of the feeling that we are all in the matrix! Love that movie; yeah for Cartesian skepticism. Jaime says that interchanges and the cars on them remind her of veins with blood flowing through them. Another picture that comes to her imagination; she envisions several cars going in all the directions of the interchange: each car has a ribbon tied to its rear bumper, and as they traverse the interchange she imagines the wonderful, complicated knot that might be created.
