Concluding remarks

Josh: "A note on the absurdity of what we are doing. For most people, freeways and the interchanges that they are forced to navigate, inspire either distanced apathy or seething hatred (representative of a dreary commute). I guess the idea of doing something just to do something else has never been that appealing to me. I commute but I refuse to let this experience degenerate into a necessary evil, a means to some other higher end. And why should the journey, consisting as it does in freeway culture and the silent (and deeply complex and involved) interaction among my traveling counterparts, be understood as something incapable of variety and even magic? I guess that’s why we are undertaking this trip today—to reinforce the fact that no experience, if seen in the right light, is less than extraordinary."
